Where to Go - Mainland : Wynnum
With their bayside location and mix of cafés, galleries and places to stay, Wynnum and Manly are popular destinations for day trippers from Brisbane.
Parkland extends along almost the entire foreshore of Wynnum and is a great place to have a picnic, watch the boats sail by and soak up the atmosphere of this bayside suburb. Wynnum has long been a favourite destination for visitors from South East Queensland.
The cafés and eateries dotted along the Esplanade are perfect for a lazy Sunday morning breakfast or to meet up with friends for lunch or dinner. If you are looking for something a little more relaxed, why not pick up some fish and chips and find a spot on the foreshore to sit back and enjoy the view.
If you are feeling active, Wynnum has a range of sporting facilities including an eighteen hole golf course, baseball, Aussie Rules and touch football fields. Pandanus Beach and Rose Bay are swimming beaches and a wading pool provides another welcome spot to cool off.
The Wynnum Mangrove Boardwalk located in Wynnum North (adjacent to Elanora Park, Granada Street) provides access to the Moreton Bay mangroves with a 500m boardwalk through a well-developed mangrove forest. The boardwalk is ideal for spotting some of the many bird species that migrate from as far away as Siberia and Mongolia each year.
